1,715 Reasons To Be Cheerful

Our fund raising target has been smashed more than the roof tiles from a Bomber Graham six.

At the start of the year we challenged ourselves to raise a grand: half the cost of our new bowling machine. The rest of the money we would find from existing club funds.

We had more social events this year, with more people attending. Thanks to everyone who took part in, or organised, any of the events. Especially to Laddy and Dale for putting the programme together.

In total we've raised a staggering £1,715.

And importantly lots of fun along the way to build a great club spirit.

All the money we raise gets directly invested back into the club. And this year's success puts us in a good place for next season. We're already looking for a second sightscreen, better practice nets, easier access to the 'pound' and to be the best dressed club in the league. Who knows we might raise two grand next year?

Right Result for Race Night

Friday's Race Night was a spectacularly successful finale to our programme of fund raising social events. The best turn out we've had for years: a big thank you to everyone who came along, especially those who brought friends and family to swell the numbers.

Hope you managed to pick a winner; the shortest price favourite on the night duly obliged: Leggy winning the race to the buffet table.

Thanks to promoters Laddy and Dale, King of the Betting Ring Ted plus his happy helpers, Jean for her usual wonderful buffet, and Meeky for being shy and retiring on the microphone.

We raised £556 for club funds.

Race Night This Friday

Our programme of Social Events reaches a crescendo this Friday with our Annual Race Night.

7.30 start at the (now fully refurbished) Buzz. Entry is £5. Don't eat anything before you come as Jean will be laying on her usual banquet at half time! Everyone welcome.

Meeky will be on the mike to help you cheer on your horse.

With a last push we'll be home and dry with our fund raising to pay for the bowling machine.

Firsts Second

With promotion sealed and all our games played, the Firsts were relying on Hucknall to do us a favour against leaders Kirkby Portland in the last outstanding game.

It had been neck and neck all season at the top, and the title was decided in a photo finish - Kirkby getting a tie to snatch the title by a whisker.

One point either way would have seen our points average better!

Still, plenty to look forward to next season in 1B.
